The founder and first president of the American League, Ban Johnson utilized this style of trophy during the 1920s, which we have seen presented to various dignitaries during the decade. This one is shy of any presentation plaque or wording. Resplendent on its white marble base, a batter and catcher appear on the top in beautiful bronze. The piece measures approximately 5" wide and 6" tall. The base has a few minor chips but otherwise is in EX condition. Johnson was a larger-than-life figure in the AL until the mid-1920s, when a public dispute with commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis resulted in his forced resignation as league president.
