Passed through the Wright family over four generations, this is an actual cricket ball used by the Hall of Fame pioneer as a boy in New York. At the time he was making the transition from the game his British father taught him (cricket), to the new game of his birth (base ball). Years ago, the ball was covered across the front with athletic tape penned in blue: "Cricket Ball Belonging To George Wright About 1860." The handwriting is from his grandson, George Wright II. The leather wrapping has worn off after all the years, leaving the 3.25" diameter inner ball made of some composite. You can see markings made by the center-stitched cricket ball's leather covering that was once there. The ball is undoubtedly of the era. This is being consigned directly by the family of George Wright and the winning bidder will receive their Letter of Authenticity.
