He was nicknamed "The Crab" and was the winner of three National League batting titles. Jesse Burkett batted over .400 twice during the dead ball era, and this is his actual wood plaque used by the Baseball Hall of Fame for a traveling exhibit over the span of several decades. Burkett's permanent plaque is pictured at the top of the 11.5x21" display with his biography below. It is in EX condition with mounting holes on all four corners. One of the earliest left-handed batting stars, Burkett played for 16 seasons then managed for 10 seasons in the minors. He holds the all-time record of 55 inside-the-park home runs.
