This forceful, large pitcher is American circa 1910 and pictures a splendid footballer associated with Yale University from the golden age of Ivy League collegiate football. In soft paste porcelain, the piece is hand-decorated and signed by F. Earl Christy (American 1882-1961), the well-known commercial illustrator renowned for his postcards, magazine covers and china. Bears the school insignia, and stands 14.25" tall, very difficult to find in this large size. Impressive.
