This is the prototype used in production of the gold pitching hand cast. This was used at some point during the creation process after they "cast" Bob Feller's hand holding a baseball. The incised writing is accented along the base with commercial artistry lines to ensure the writing is evenly set. The wonderful brass-hinged wooden box with black velvet lining inside is basically a coffin, made to snugly fit and protect "the hand" which is cast in white chalkware. The writing incised on the base reads "Bob Feller Cast May 20, 1941." This has a dark, Addams Family ghoulish feel is very much like "Thing." The hand on the base measures 10.5" high, and the only flaw is the age spotting or discoloration which looks very human. The box is extremely heavy, made of solid wood, with brass accouterments. Measurement of box is 16 long by 7.5" wide and 7.5" deep, and it in overall EX condition. Not to be confused with the mass produced gold version that was made FROM this - this is a one-of-a-kind original!
