Fresh to the market comes this unique folk art cane carved by a skilled artisan, perhaps in New England, during the height of the cane craze of the 1860s and 1870s. Primitive by design and representational of our most beloved pastime, this carving was made out of one piece of wood, and is 41" in length. The cane depicts a baseball in a hand, and is created with an intricate eye to detail, as you can see the stitching in the baseball and the nails of his fingers. The baseball's relative size and construction is consistent with a ball from the 1860-70s. This folk art cane has a wonderful design, is of a great age and patina which would be highly regarded among both folk art and sports collectors.
