Before All-Stars were given cars to signify their role, players got awards for participation in the Midsummer Classic. Luckily for Ted Kluszewski, he played in the early 1950s when MVP awards were not awarded and he got this large Sterling Silver bowl for his appearance in the 1953 All Star Game. The front is engraved "Ted Kluszewski, 1953 Major League All Star Game, Crosley Field, Cincinnati Ohio, National League 5, American League 1". This was a very special award for Klu as this game was held in front of his home town crowd at Crosley Field. Comes with a typed and signed letter from Warren Giles congratulating Kluszewski for being a part of the National League victory. The original mailing envelope is included. In addition to the Giles letter, this bowl comes with a LOA from Ted's wife, Elanor Kluszewski. Bowl is in EX condition. 5.75" H x 10.25" W
