Political hardball and baseball form a fascinating mix in this historic 1937 Dominican Series. Dominican Republic dictator Rafael Trujillo financially lured Josh Gibson, Satchel Paige and the greatest Negro Leaguers ever to play for his team, Ciudad Trujillo B.B.C., which was held under armed guard. It won the title while backers tub-thumped for Trujillo's re-election. This is for a Trujillo doubleheader against a team of national all-stars and a political rally. Josh Gibson, of course, is listed prominently. For the record, Trujillo of course won the election also. One of two known to exist, both unique.
