On March 8, 1971, Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali fought for the first time in Madison Square Garden in New York. Entering the match, both were undefeated and considered champions; Ali because he had never lost his title in the ring, Frazier because he had beaten just about everyone else and had established himself champion in Ali's absence. An epic battle saw Frazier emerge victorious, winning a 15-round decision and knocking Ali down in the process. It was probably Smokin' Joe's finest hour. These two souvenir gold gloves were given to the celebrities and high rollers attending. Made by Everlast, these regulation size gloves exhibit some discoloration and minor tears, and the laces are present. Seldom seen, rarely as a pair.
