With any record run, there has to be a first step. All-time strikeout king Nolan Ryan whiffed an amazing 5,714 batters over his dominant career, and his first victim was his first-ever batter faced: opposing pitcher Pat Jarvis of the Atlanta Braves in the top of the 6th on September 11, 1966. Here's a clean, sharp 1968 home jersey from Jarvis. It has "BRAVES" on the front of the button-down pinstriped shirt with "33" on the back and laughing Indian patch on the sleeve. His name is chain-stitched in the collar and there have been no alterations at all. Even though Jarvis will forever be the answer to a trivia question, the eight-year major league veteran did get the last laugh as he defeated Ryan's Mets 8-3 at Shea Stadium on that historic Sunday afternoon.
