Commissioned in 1944 for a proposed cover for TIME Magazine that was bumped for a bigger story, this original painting by Ernest Hamlin Baker is a pure Hollywood design that shows the Father of "Gone with the Wind" with his hefty movieography of titles in the background as a stunning city of lights. Gouache on heavy artist’s board. This celebrated Hollywood producer generated Gone with the Wind and Rebecca (among others), both of which earned Oscars for Best Picture. The piece itself is 11.5" x 12.5”, and archivally matted to 16.75" x 17.75” overall. Includes artist's notes on back of painting: #145 VW.
