Commissioned in 1955, this stunning gouache on heavy artist's board shows the Russian Premier at the peak of his powers. The quality and look is captivating; ebullient, brash, impetuous, Krushchev dominated the USSR during the Cold War, yet prepared the way for Perestroika. As premier, he stirred the world pot with the Hungarian Revolt, Sputnik I, Berlin War Crisis, Cuban Missile Crisis and De-Stalinization. This piece itself is 13.5" x 17.5", archivally matted to 19" x 22" overall. Includes artist's notes on back of painting: EHB #3.
