One for the Gipper! This incredible University of Notre Dame scrapbook was chronicled by alumnus Kenneth Nyhasu from the golden years of 1919-21 when the Fighting Irish compiled a spectacular 27-3-1 record under legendary coach Knute Rockne. There are tons of team clippings and a huge emphasis on George Gipp, the program's first All-American and one of the most versatile athletes in American history, who died in 1920. There are multiple memorials to him inside, and there are several important pieces between the pages, including one of the first classic Gipp kicking photos and a ticket from the 1920 game vs. Northwestern (a whole page is devoted to this match), which turned out to be the last one he played as he would die three days later. There is a football records page that is completely filled in, 1919 victorious team photo, signed vintage Gipp photo, a super fold-out piece with Rockne on the cover and Gipp kicking inside, ticket stubs from 1927 (Ohio) and 1935 (USC), homecoming pennant (Nebraska) and cello pin, roughly 19 vintage sports photos (basketball, baseball, hockey) and 1921 class panorama print. A couple of the pages are loose and only one has been removed before we even opened it. A treasure trove of history here!
