More than a century old, this early mission oak chair from the Stickley era is a home run wherever it may wind up. The seat back depicts baseball scenes carved in the wood. The original paint has been retained whereas almost all the similar pieces we have seen do not. As an added attraction, the original cushion is also included. The only TRUE Baseball furniture you will come across, as the scene portrays a pitcher dealing to a batter with a catcher and umpire situated behind the plate. There is one defensive player on the right side of the field, with a border fence surrounding the players and comprising the left side of the park. Beyond the fence is a tree and an actual bull in a pasture (the first "bullpen" perhaps?), which adds a very nice touch to the pastoral, summertime feel. This is a rare version with much of the original white paint to embellish their faces. The chair measures approximately 38" x 22.5" x 16" and the cushion has been replaced. Otherwise, it is in EX-MT condition. Mission was simple furniture built to last... and last it has!
