Led by Kentucky Hall of Fame star Howie Crittendon, Kentucky State did the impossible. From the tiny enrollment of 100 students, their coach, Jack Story, developed this team starting in the 8th grade and after a disappointing 1951 loss, took the title in 1952 in a blaze of glory. A David and Goliath epic, they beat the mighty DuPont Manual, the school with the largest enrollment in the state. It is considered one of the greatest games in high school basketball history, making a film on this story an inevitable conclusion, which would change the equation mightily. The jacket is marvelous, reversible in gray wool with crimson piping and all-important "Kentucky State Champs 1952" patch on the chest. There's no tag because it is reversible and it is a player jacket, though the original presentee is unknown. The only one we have seen. EX-MT.
