Snapshots of a golden age. Illustrious sports photographer Hy Peskin was the best in the business at snapping photos of celebrities from the sporting world, and here are over five dozen examples. All are color-slide format and in EX condition, some of which are even signed by the Brooklyn-born shutterbug. Baseball dominates the collection, with most hailing from the 1950s and a few from the early '60s. Among the famous faces here are: Mantle, Musial, Ashburn, Mays, Roberts, Aaron, Snider, F. Robinson, J. Robinson, Martin and many more, with a few unidentified subjects. There are also shots from the 1958 and 1960 World Series. There are celebrities from outside the world of baseball, too, such as Sugar Ray Robinson, Rocky Marciano, Gary Cooper, Frank Gifford and more. Peskin is regarded as a pioneer of sports photography, with his work regularly appearing in magazines such as Sports Illustrated and Life.
