From the same time "Rudy" played his heart out on the football practice squad and eventually suited up for Notre Dame, a young kid by the name of Steve McDaniels was beginning his collegiate career as an offensive tackle for the Irish. This was his gold Wilson hard-shell helmet that measures 7 3/8-7 1/2 and features "McDANIELS" written in pen inside, as well as a sticker that reads: "RENOVATED FOR 1975 PLAYING SEASON." The helmet - which may have originated in the 1960s - shows nice use but is in EX condition. McDaniels was Notre Dame's starting right tackle in 1976 and 1977.
