The 1949 Irish football team won all 10 of its games to claim their seventh national championship, and third in four years. It also marked the end of a dynastic run that saw Notre Dame go 36-0-2. The official Spalding Inter-Collegiate football has "NOTRE DAME" stamped in to the leather, making it a very rare piece of pigskin in itself. It is in EX-MT condition and bears the printed inscription: "Presented to Bill Duley by the Notre Dame 1949 Champions" near the seam. The signatures in black fountain pen are strong and average 8-9/10. There are 40 signatures total with legendary coach Frank Leahy and Leon Hart - that season's Heisman Trophy winner - leading the way. Other prominent names include Bob Williams, Jim Mutscheller, Ralph McGehee, Jim Martin, Emil Sitko, Bill Wightkin, Bob Lally, Walt Grothaus, Jerry Groom, Larry Coutre and Bill Gay. Comes with PSA LOA.
