He was born Johannes Peter Wagner, but the world simply knows him as "Honus." The Hall of Fame shortstop who compiled a lifetime .329 batting average and well over 3,400 hits signed this Carnegie National Bank-issued check in 1927, a decade after "The Flying Dutchman" retired as a player-manager and six years before his return to the Bucs as a coach. Beautifully framed, the check is made out for $2.50 and signed J Honus Wagner at the Bottom (6/10). There are typical cancellation marks evident. The check itself is a technical VG-EX due to a few creases but presents better. The frame allows the endorsement on the reverse to be seen.
