Three of the greatest catchers in baseball history served in the U.S. Navy during the World War II era: Bill Dickey and Yogi Berra of the New York Yankees and Mickey Cochrane, who had already concluded his Hall of Fame career as player and manager. Years after his service, he was presented with this 10" x 12" wood-based plaque with Air Force seal and a plate that reads: "PRESENTED TO GORDON 'MICKEY' COCHRANE FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICES UNITED STATES AIR FORCE SPECIAL SERVICES SPORTS PROGRAM 1956." It is in EX condition while the accompanying photos average VG with one having some tears.
