They're extremely popular today, especially as giveaway items at sporting events, but the modern bobbing head first surfaced back in the 1950s. By 1960, the first player-specific baseball bobbleheads appeared during the World Series, with Roberto Clemente, Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris being immortalized in papier mache and hard plastic.
