Extravagantly lush and detailed grandstand "stadium" seat originates appears to date from the late 19th century. This emanates from the historic Harry M. Stevens Collection we auctioned on May 11, 1996. Harry M. Stevens was one of the true pioneers of sport commercialism credited by many for popularizing the modern scorecard and the hot dog. This was one of only two seats saved from the annihilation of the seats in Saratoga Race Course. This marvelous marriage of cast iron and wood and is in beautifully unrestored original condition. It rested in the now defunct Harry M. Stevens Museum and was consigned by the original 1996 auction winner.
