The second helmet has no maker but is of the highest quality and certainly worthy of the highest level of play, The gold helmet with Black stripes on top is a size 7 3/8. Both are consistent with Irish helmets of this time period and among the finest quality pieces money can buy. During His Sophomore Year at Notre Dame, Mavraides was instrumental in helping the Irish beat the 9-0 Rose Bowl-bound USC Trojans at home by recovering a late-game fumble deep in Trojan territory.
