Here are the shoes that started it all. It was 28 years ago when NBA commissioner David Stern officially banned Michael Jordan’s Air Jordan I from the NBA courts for failure to meet the on-court dress code. Stern declared that the sneakers did not properly match the Chicago Bulls jerseys despite having the same red. black and white color scheme. Prior to this memorable act, Stern fined the Hall of Fame guard $5,000 every time he stepped on the court in the Air Jordan I. In a gutsy move, Nike willingly paid Jordan's fine every game, as the shoe company discovered the potential of excessive notoriety and hoopla as a result of the move. Both shoes are Jordan's size 13 and completely unworn. The code inside the shoe is 13 850204. TYPS. They were presented as a gift from Michael Jordan to our consignor and are mint condition. Both are signed on the interior upper in black sharpie by Jordan and the signature rates 8/9 out of 10. Jordan was so good, he probably could have led Chicago to six championships playing barefoot!
