The 1997 Florida Marlins became the fastest expansion franchise to win a World Series, turning the trick in just their fifth season (Arizona would break the record just four years later), as they outlasted the Cleveland Indians in seven games. Jim Leyland's team set the tone by winning Game 1 in Miami and wound up alternating wins the rest of the Series, culminating in Edgar Renteria's 11th-inning, walk-off single in Game 7. From Game 1 comes this official World Series last-out baseball, which was given to - and signed by - winning pitcher Livan Hernandez, who would go on to be named Series MVP. Written on the ball is: "WORLD SERIES * WIN #1 * OCTOBER 18, 1997 PRO PLAYER STADIUM CLEVELAND INDIANS 5.2 INNINGS, 8 HITS, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 STRIKEOUTS WP-HERNANDEZ LP-HERSHISER S-NEN MARLINS 7 INDIANS 4 T-3:19 HR ALOU JOHNSON RAMIREZ THOME 2b ROBERTS." Shows nice use and comes with a hand-signed LOA from Hernandez.
