Straight from the hand of a Hall of Fame legend comes this check from the Chemical Bank and Trust Company that Babe Ruth made out to "Cash" for $100 on September 5, 1935, a few months after his retirement. The signature on the front in black fountain ink rates 9/10 while the one on the back in the same black ink also rates 9/10, There is one fold line in the center of the check. Also included is a framed postage stamp display, yellow Hall of Fame plaque postcard and Perez-Steele postcard. After his brilliant, 15-year run with the Yankees concluded the previous fall, Ruth began the 1935 campaign in the same town where he started his major league career, playing for the Boston Braves. But after seeing his batting average and power output diminish significantly in the first two months of the season, prompting his retirement.
