From his rookie year with the Pirates, this very rare and unusual postcard is in EX condition and magnificently dated July 20, 1955 with a Pittsburgh postmark. It is PSA/DNA authenticated with a signature rating 9/10. The card is addressed to a Bernard Alexander of Lakewood, NY and bears a 3-cent stamp that reads: "SAVE THE EASY WAY - BUY U.S. BONDS." A 15-time All-Star whose brilliant career was cut shirt due to a plane crash, Clemente batted .255 in 124 games during the 1955 season but blossomed the following year with a .311 average en route to four National League batting titles.
