Long before the current NHL Ottawa Senators franchise existed, a minor league club with the same nickname played in a newly-opened, state-of-the-art venue in 1923. This program and two ticket stubs come from the first-ever exhibition game at the Ottawa Auditorium. All are affixed to a brown-paper backing but appear EX other than being affixed. The game was between the Edmonton Club and World Champion Ottawa Senators. Names like Boucher, Broadbent, Denneny, Nighbor and Clancy are on the lineup page. The fact that the building's seating capacity was 10,000 was quite unusual for its time, especially in a relatively-small market such as Ottawa (despite its political importance). Not only did the community use the auditorium for hockey, there were numerous assemblies, performances and concerts held there, making it a true community and cultural center.
