One of greatest products of the New York City playgrounds, Ossie Schectman made a name for himself as a standout basketball player at Long Island University, and then as a pro with the Philadelphia Sphas of the Eastern Basketball League before joining the fledgling BAA - the precursor to the NBA - in 1946. However, the relationship between Ossie and the Knicks was far from a love affair. This lot consists of three unexecuted copies of the 1948-1949 New York Knicks players’ contracts and a letter from the Knicks detailing training camp, with the threat of suspension if the players didn't come to terms by October 1. Shows great insight into the Knicks' first captain and his contract holdout. The documents average EX and the letter is VG.
