The very racquet used by Jimmy Connors in the 1978 Wimbledon Finals versus his arch-nemesis Bjorn Borg. Custom made Wilson racquet with spe-cial weight on the end as Connors pre-ferred. Jimmy Connors gave the racquet to fellow tennis legend Bobby Riggs in the lockeroom right after the match. Our consignor, a close friend of Riggs, was standing there at the time and Riggs in turn gave him the racquet. Racquet is signed on its mount in mint black marker, "Doug-The years have gone by in a hurry. But we can always do what we do best… Play Tennis. J. Connors." Comes with photo of Connors signing this on Court #2 at the Los Angeles Tennis Club. As noted on the back of the photo, 25 years previously Connors and the consignor had hit balls together on that very same court (Connors was 15 years old!). An important artifact of tennis' most exciting era.
