Four years after Rickey Henderson shattered Lou Brock's all-time stolen base record, the Hall of Famer was still a blur on the base paths, extending his own record until he retired with 1,406 total bags. This is an actual game-used base from a game in Oakland when Henderson swiped third as part of a double steal in the fourth inning, then scampered home after an error on Yankees second baseman Pat Kelly. The A's were trailing 3-0 at the start of that frame but Rickey and his Oakland mates came back to edge the Yanks 4-3 that Friday night by the Bay. The base shows lots of use and dirt. It is signed in black marker on the front: "Rickey Henderson 1127 S.B." with the signature rating 7/10. This was obtained directly from Henderson by a close friend who was also the Yankees' team photographer at that time.
