42. For those in the know, not only does the number signify the meaning of life, but also stands alone as the only number retired in all of Major League Baseball in honor of its most famous wearer, Jackie Robinson. The content of this lot is an exchange of personal letters - some typed on onion-skin paper - between Bert Sugar and the Dodgers slugger concerning Robinson's autobiography. It also includes a copy of the first edition of "Baseball Monthly" which Sugar mentions in his letter. The letter from Robinson is signed "Jackie" in 9/10 black ink and the letters are in Good condition, though there are staple holes in the top left corner and typical mailing folds.
