Hall of Fame shortstop Honus Wagner the subject of this magazine photo, taken when he was a coach with the Pittsburgh Pirates in the late 1940s. A member of the Hall of Fame's inaugural class, Wagner compiled 3,415 hits and sparkling .327 lifetime batting average over his 21-year career, played primarily with the Pirates. He served as player-manager his last season of 1917 and later served as Bucs coach for 19 seasons before retiring from the game in 1951.
