Classic Brooklyn Dodgers broadcasters are spotlighted in these two pieces of correspondence. General manager Branch Rickey, who was instrumental in breaking baseball's color barrier by signing Jackie Robinson in 1947, is the author of a letter to club attorney and future team owner Walter O'Malley, announcing plans to honor longtime radio announcer Red Barber for his great work and charitable endeavors. The second letter is something of a contract for Ernie Harwell to announce the 1949 Dodgers season. It is also signed by Harwell, who would later go on to become the Detroit Tigers' Hall of Fame announcer for decades.
