Don Thompson was a backup outfielder for Brooklyn in 1951 and then the regular left fielder in 1953-54. His career highlight came in game 4 of the 1954 World Series, when he threw out the New York Yankees' Billy Martin at home plate to end a game. Even though this jersey is tagged from 1952, Thompson did not play major league baseball that season. This was possibly used in spring training or was a hold-over that he used in 1953 as he did play for the Dodgers that year. There is a Rawlings Size 44 tag on the collar, DODGERS 29 on the front and Thompson's autograph in black ink below the number. Name and number are stitched into the front tail, and the number 29 is on the back. The uniform shows decent use, with what appear to be a couple of blood stains on the upper chest. The Rawlings pants are from 1951 and were reused with "29" in marker. There is also a 1951 name tag for Teed Richard and the name HOLMES written in faded marker. Thompson batted .242 in 96 games with Brooklyn in 1953.
