We have not seen early Cassius Clay bag gloves such as these offered, making this a genuine rarity! Clay used these black leather gloves with Post label on each wrist when he trained at the Columbia Street Gym in his hometown. Initialed C.C. inside each wrist, they show heavy wear. LOAs from Pete Morkovin, who obtained the gloves from a gym member, and Craig Hamilton of JO Sports, Inc. The man who would eventually become Muhammad Ali was born on January 17, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky. He won the World Heavyweight Title from Sonny Liston on February 25, 1964 and earned notable wins over Frazier, Foreman, Spinks and Norton. He retired in 1981 with a final record of 56-5 with 37 KOs. Ali also had an incredible amateur career, which culminated with an Olympic Gold Medal in 1960.
