Here is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a genuine rarity - a mind-blowing run of the American weekly, "Sporting Life," that was a primary resource for baseball and trap shooting. Single issues are expensive and extremely difficult to find. That's what makes this collection such a precious archive. The fragile papers span from the very first year of publication in 1883 to 1917, when it ceased. There are a few duplicates included here, but there are tons of great covers with many composites of teams. The volumes are bound, and some have been cut away from the binding so they could be scanned. The lot comes with a searchable computer archive, in which every issue has been professionally scanned. This is highly invaluable when it comes to research, and would be very expensive to have done. Sporting Life attempted a comeback in 1922 but went by the boards less than two years later. Henry Chadwick, sometimes called the "father of baseball," was a regular contributor to the classic newspaper, which originated in Philadelphia.
