Gerrie Coetzee began his professional boxing career on September 14, 1974. He failed in his first two attempts to win the heavyweight title, losing to John Tate in 1979 and to Mike Weaver in 1980. He won the WBA World Heavyweight Title on September 23, 1983, stopping Michael Dokes in the 10th round of their fight in Atlantic City. Offered here is an original robe of Gerrie Coetzee that he used in his fights with Dokes, Weaver, Tate and Page. A beautiful, blue velvet robe with gold satin lining. It is calf length and includes the original sash. "GERRIE" on back in gold lettering. One of the few pieces of equipment to be offered for this former champion. Excellent condition.
