There are not too many single-signed baseballs that are scarcer than this gem. In fact, until a decade ago, an authentic Joe McGinnity single-signed baseball was not known to exist in private hands. The brother to this baseball was sold in 2003 for a then-very hefty sum. This baseball was found along with the one sold in 2003 and held in a private collection until now. The major difference is that this one is much more impressive! Official National League (Heydler) baseball has a nice patina and looks to be game-used. Overall, it is still in a pleasing, Very Good condition. The signature is in black fountain ink and signed "J.J. McGinnity, With Best Wishes." The signature on the sweet spot can be seen at a distance and rates a solid 6/10. The last name is stronger than the initials. This will likely be the last time an authentic, single-signed Joe McGinnity baseball will ever be offered for public sale. We can't stress enough the importance and rarity of this baseball. PSA LOA.
