The 1996 Summer Olympics featured a record 197 nations and saw Americans win the lion's share of the medals with 101. But the event was somewhat marred by a bombing at the Centennial Village as security guard Richard Jewell quickly notified authorities of a pipe bomb and many people were quickly evacuated; actions that saved countless lives. The items offered here are varied items from that security detail, including two shirts with Olympic security patches on the shoulders, two pairs of green pants, belt, safari-style straw hat, plastic water bottle, fanny pack with Olympic logo, commemorative swatch, two collector pins, luggage tag, brochure, notepad and massive resource manual binder and video cassettes. Two people died and 111 were injured in the bombing, but if it weren't for alert security personnel, the casualty count would have been exponentially higher.
