Here's an extremely rare ticket stub, the holder of which saw first-hand Hall of Fame legend Joe DiMaggio's record 56-game hitting streak come to a conclusion. Dated July 17, 1941, it was good for an Upper Reserved seat at Cleveland Stadium that misty night, when a season-high 67,463 fans witnessed history. Technically, the condition is VG-EX, but it looks much better, and is larger than the others we have seen, making it a bit more desirable. DiMaggio's streak could have easily extended on this particular date, as the Yankee Clipper was robbed twice by Gold Glove third baseman Ken Keltner, who snared two blistering ground balls down the third-base line, destined to be doubled for "Joltin' Joe." Instead, they were bang-bang plays at first base, and DiMaggio was forced to settle for an 0-3 with a seventh-inning walk against Tribe ace Bob Feller. After a 6-4-3 double play in the eighth, the streak was over, although the Yankees still won the game. And, oh by the way, Joe D hit safely in the next 17 games!
