On March 2, 1962 in Hershey, PA, Wilt Chamberlain made basketball history by scoring 100 points in leading his Philadelphia Warriors past the New York Knicks, 169-147. The 100 points remain a single-game scoring record, and his exploits that fateful night are recorded here in this rare program from that very game. The "Wigwam" is in EX-MT condition and features a scorecard that is neatly filled in with blue ball-point pen. What is most amazing is that Philadelphia had FOUR other players score in double figures that game, and another player - York Larese - chipped in with nine. The Knicks had three players score at least 30 points in a losing effort. Arguably the greatest player ever to hit the hardwood, Chamberlain set five other league records that game, including most free throws made with 28 out of 32 attempts. That was especially unusual since Wilt was a notoriously poor foul shooter. Yet the rim must have looked as wide as the Liberty Bell on this historic night as the third-year center was at the peak of his career, dominating the NBA with a 50.4 points-per-game average, still a league record. The game was not televised and thus there is no video footage from that game. Only 4,124 fans witnessed the brilliant performance, though many more have claimed to have been there.
