In 1927 Polish immigrant Stella Walsh qualified for the American Olympic team, but was denied entry due to her lack of citizenship; however, Poland extended an invitation to her. In the 1932 Summer Olympics Walsh tied the current world record of 11.9 seconds in the 100m dash, which she won. Along with numerous gold medals she also held world records for the 60m and 100m. Walsh was only to be labeled a transgender after her death in 1980 where she was a victim in a robbery. Only during the autopsy was it determined that She had male genitalia present and XY genetics. Collection contains four news paper prints along with signed signature card.
