Three of these five paper advertising signs feature the airplane cards that were so popular from the early 1940s. All signs are from 1940-42 and average EX condition with only one example that is of lesser condition. Back in 1940, Brown & Williamson Tobacco corp. sponsored a radio program called "Wings of Destiny," and these cards were originally issued with their tobacco products in conjunction with the show. Two red signs measuring roughly 10.5x15.5" feature Wings King Size, with "Free Piper Cub Airplane" promotions, with illustrations of the planes. Another yellow ad - measuring 10x16" - claims the king size smokes "COST LESS and LAST LONGER." Another 10x15" ad is in the worst shape with a few tears and repairs at the very top and is stuck to a plastic backing. There are 20 plane illustrations surrounding the ad copy on this one. The fifth one has a white and blue background and features an unusually colored brown pack of cigarettes. This wider, shorter sign measures 18x12" and boasts of "union-made" 15-cent quality for just 10 cents a pack.
