This keepsake from the fabled Brickyard commemorates the 500-mile race that was held in 1941. The flag itself measures 17x13" and has been kept in plastic. It is a traditional checkered flag with a red oval across the middle that measures approximately nine inches across and six inches high. The oval has white lettering stating, "INDIANAPOLIS 500 MILE CLASSIC - MAY 30, 1941." In an unusual twist, Floyd Davis and Mauri Rose are credited as co-winners of the race, when the latter took the wheel in relief after a pit stop on lap 72. Rose had been in a different car, which dropped out earlier in the race. This item is in EX-MT condition.
