While we have seen a handful of Babe Ruth home run baseballs, only a few are from the major leagues (versus barnstorming). We had NEVER seen a Lou Gehrig home run baseball, let alone from a major league game, until now. And as a special bonus, it is SIGNED by the Iron Horse. This official American League Baseball (William Harridge) is signed on the side panel with steel-tip fountain pen by the Hall of Fame legend (signature has been JSA Authenticated). There is writing on the opposite panel, “New York 14, Red Sox 4, 37th Home Run, Scoring Babe Ruth, Sunday August 30, 1931.” The game was played at Braves Field and Gehrig went 4-6 with four RBI. The ball was discovered in a New England estate sale decades ago. It comes with an LOA from a respected hobbyist who obtained it directly from the lucky estate sale discoverer. JSA LOA also. Before succumbing to A.L.S. ten years later, Gehrig led the American League with 46 homers and 184 RBI in that 1931 season. He was clearly the most feared slugger in the game at the time, though pitcher Lefty Grove won the MVP with a 31-4 record.
