Back before they were known as the Dodgers, Brooklyn baseball was still a big deal in New York's largest borough. This fantastic, historic lot features eight early programs, most of which are fragile and not in the sturdiest condition. Overall, the collection is Good with some loose covers, chipped corners, writing, and creases. The oldest scorecard is from July 23, 1884 with the "Trolley Dodgers" defeating the Pittsburgh "Alleghenies" 10-4. The other books are: 1892 with the Brooklyn Bridegrooms beating the Cincinnati Reds; 1893 with the Bridegrooms losing to the New York Giants; 1905 featuring the "Superbas" losing to the Pittsburg (sic) Pirates; 1907 detailing the Superbas' 12-4 loss to the Chicago Cubs; 1910 with the Superbas beating the Pirates, 4-1 in Game 1 of a doubleheader (Game 2 featured the same result); 1913 featuring a 5-2 Superbas loss to the Giants in the "morning game" of a doubleheader sweep; and a 1915 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals in the second game of a twin bill when the team was known as the Brooklyn Robins. All eight scorecards feature vintage advertising, artwork and pencil scoring marks/notations. Incredible stuff!
