Represented by players only from the newly formed World Hockey Association, Team Canada fell short in this eight-game series in 1974. From mid-September to early October 1974, Gordie Howe; however, proved he was still one of the world’s elite hockey players scoring three goals and registering four assists in seven games. This striking red Team Canada jersey features “CANADA” diagonally across the front with a large maple leaf enclosing “74” on the left chest. Also adding to the allure of this rare jersey is Howe’s alternate captain’s “A” which sits between the “74” maple leaf and the neckline. The Maska manufacturer’s tag resides in the collar along with the original lace in the lace-up collar. Howe’s number “9” is bordered by two maple leafs to the top and one maple leaf below on each sleeve. A few light stick marks on the front including one that runs into the maple leaf on the left chest. The right sleeve has a couple of small stains and three stick marks near the cuff. Howe’s number “9” is sewn on the back below an “INTERNATIONAL” name on back sewn directly onto the jersey. Howe has added his signature, “Gordon Howe,” in bold blue in the middle of the back number.
