One of the most tragic stories in baseball history is that of California Angels outfielder Lyman Bostock, who was murdered in his hometown of Gary, Indiana at age 27. The Angels had played an afternoon game on Saturday, September 23, 1978 and as was his custom, Bostock visited his uncle in the Chicago suburb after the game and was shot in a case of mistaken identity. This Rawlings Little League baseball is EX+ with only minor toning, and the signature rates 8.5/10 in black ballpoint pen on a side panel. At the time of his death, the left-handed hitting Bostock was leading his club with a .296 batting average.
