This is a bottle of California Sauterne wine from Joe DiMaggio's private stock. In 1937, DiMaggio opened a restaurant in San Francisco's Marina District called "Joe DiMaggio's Grotto". Joe kept the atmosphere friendly and exciting, and many ballplayers would eat there. This wine was served at that restaurant, but this particular bottle has escaped the clutches of thirsty patrons. Wax has been added to the cork to prevent leakage. The label is a silvery foil baseball that reads "California Sauterne / Bottled especially for Joe DiMaggio's Grotto, San Francisco, California". The foil label has some slight tearing at the top, but the bottle is otherwise in EX+ condition.
